PDO threads were developed in Korea and quickly became popular worldwide. PDO lifting threads are made from absorbable PDO (polydioxanone).
As with all medical procedures, the treatment is preceded by a thorough medical consultation to verify indications and possible contraindications.
Over several months the threads gradually dissolve, stimulating collagen synthesis, fibroblasts and angiogenesis. As a result, the skin becomes smoother and brighter, wrinkles may become less visible, facial contour can lift, pores may appear reduced, and lax tissues can become strengthened—resulting in a lifting effect.
Indications for PDO thread treatment:
- under-eye bags – lower eyelid area,
- sagging cheeks,
- double chin,
- horizontal and vertical forehead wrinkles,
- lowered outer brow edges,
- pronounced nasolabial fold,
- cheek-zygomatic groove,
- marionette fold,
- cheek skin fold,
- smoker’s lines.
Lifting threads stimulate the body to produce new collagen fibers (neocollagenesis), supporting local fiber renewal. Treated areas become more resilient and less prone to laxity. Increased connective-tissue cell activity supports elastin synthesis responsible for skin elasticity and resilience.
