Chronic migraine treatment with botulinum toxin

Chronic migraine treatment using botulinum toxin is an effective and safe method recommended for patients suffering from frequent, recurrent headaches. It is particularly useful when pharmacological treatment does not provide sufficient relief or causes adverse effects.

How does botulinum toxin work in migraine?

Botulinum toxin blocks the release of neurotransmitters involved in pain transmission and reduces hypersensitivity of nerve endings. This can decrease migraine attack frequency, intensity and duration.

Indications

  • chronic migraine (headache ≥ 15 days/month, including ≥ 8 migraine days)
  • migraine resistant to pharmacological treatment
  • intolerance to anti-migraine medications
  • significant reduction in quality of life due to headaches

Procedure

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and takes about 20–40 minutes. After medical consultation, botulinum toxin is injected with a fine needle into specific points within the head, forehead, temples, occipital area, neck and upper back (according to an established migraine-treatment protocol). Anesthesia is usually not required or discomfort is minimal.

Treatment results

First effects typically appear 1–2 weeks after treatment. In most patients this includes:

  • fewer migraine attacks
  • reduced pain intensity
  • shorter attacks
  • reduced need for painkillers

The effect lasts on average about 3 months. Regular repeat sessions are recommended for best results.

Safety

Botulinum toxin treatment for chronic migraine is well studied and approved. It is safe when performed by an experienced physician using certified products.

Aftercare

  • avoid massaging injection areas for 24 hours
  • avoid intense physical exercise for 24 hours
  • follow individual medical recommendations

Every therapy is preceded by a detailed medical consultation where indications, contraindications and an individualized treatment plan are established.

Baby Botox – subtle wrinkle smoothing

Baby Botox is a gentle botulinum-toxin approach for people who want a natural rejuvenation effect without changing facial features and without an overly “frozen” look. It uses smaller, precisely selected doses to preserve facial expressiveness.

What is Baby Botox?

Compared to classic Botox, Baby Botox uses lower doses injected precisely into selected facial muscles. Muscles are only gently relaxed, leading to subtle, natural smoothing of lines.

Indications:

  • fine expression lines
  • prevention of wrinkle fixation
  • early signs of skin aging
  • desire to maintain natural facial expression
  • patients concerned about classic “frozen” Botox effects

Most common areas:

  • forehead
  • glabellar area
  • crow’s feet
  • fine perioral lines

Procedure:

The treatment takes about 45 minutes. After medical consultation, small doses are injected with a fine needle into specific points. It is minimally invasive and usually does not require anesthesia.

Results:

First effects are typically visible after 3–7 days, with full results after about 10–14 days. The skin looks smoother, more rested and fresh while preserving natural expression. Results usually last 2–4 months.

Safety:

Baby Botox is safe when performed by a physician using certified products. The approach is individualized to the patient’s needs and facial anatomy.

Aftercare:

  • do not massage injection sites for 24 hours
  • avoid intense physical exercise for 24 hours
  • avoid sauna and tanning beds for 24–48 hours

Each treatment is preceded by an individual medical consultation to discuss expectations and the plan of care.
